If it’s time for the Australian Women’s Classic – Bonville, it must mean Kristalle Blum is in the field.
Each time the tournament has been conducted, Blum has been part of the action.
A winner on the LET Access Tour in Belgium last year, the South Australian said there’s plenty of reasons she enjoys returning to Coffs Harbour to play at Bonville.
“It’s just an awesome venue. Everything about it,” Blum said.
“It’s so picturesque and even though most of the years we’ve played here the weather hasn’t been the kindest, it’s just beautiful and at the moment it’s perfect.
“It’s a lovely golf course and a super chilled out vibe for the week so it’s definitely one I look forward to coming back to.”
A regular on the WPGA Tour for almost a decade, the 25 year-old’s calendar hasn’t been as full this summer as it has been in the past as she keeps one eye on a return to Europe.
“I took quite a bit of time off around Christmas and New Year so I guess I’ve sort of been holding back a little bit, focusing on Europe which I’ll be leaving for in about six weeks,” she said.
“I was very tired toward the end of last year and I just wanted to make sure that I didn’t this year go over after sort of wearing myself out doing the Aussie stuff beforehand.
“So I’ve tried to be a bit smarter with that and sort of ease my way into the season.”
Blum said returning to Bonville has intensified her focus on producing a strong performance.
“I played quite well at the Vic Open and had a solid couple of days at Bonnie Doon too but I’m looking forward to this week, it’s definitely one of the weeks that I was targeting, a bit like Vic Open,” she said.
“I’ve kind of focussed on certain weeks this year and been like ‘I want to play well there’ so we’ll see how this week goes but I love coming back here.”
