Rebecca Artis is happy to be back on home soil and set show her best golf to the galleries at the Australian Ladies Classic – Bonville and the Women’s NSW Open at Coffs Harbour Golf Club.
“Coffs Harbour is a beautiful place, and to get the opportunity to play a course like Bonville is a real thrill.”
“My dad talks about how good Bonville is, and my husband Geoff (who also doubles as her caddie) has played there too,” Artis said.
The Burleigh heads based golfer has been to the Coffs region plenty of times and regards it as one of Australia’s prettiest coastal towns. She’s looking forward to introducing her friends on tour to the delights of what the mid-north coast of New South Wales has to offer.
“It’s hard to beat Coffs,’ She said. “It is one of the best coastal areas of all of Australia. It’s a spectacular little town,”
“I’m sharing an apartment with Laura (Davies) and her caddie. We are right on the water, so it’s going to be a nice stay for the two weeks,”
“I’m looking forward to it,” She said.
Artis, who secured her 2018 LPGA card at tour school in November, had a well-deserved rest over the Christmas break after her impressive end to 2017. The Coonabarabran born and bred Professional said her game is getting into great shape and she will be ready in peak form for the two tournaments.
“I had a big couple of months at the end of last year, so I took a little bit of time off over Xmas and new year,”
“I didn’t touch a club for four weeks, which I haven’t done in quite a while, but it was nice after the end of the year that I had,” she smiled.
“I did a little bit of practice leading into the Vic Open. I was a little bit rusty, but my husband always says to me I perform best a bit like a racehorse, third up form a spell,”
Artis said it would be a career highlight for her to win a major tournament in her home state, and something she would look upon fondly.
“I’m an NSW girl, so it will be nice to play some good golf at the Women’s NSW Open and the Australian Ladies Classic,”
“I went close at Oatlands a couple of years ago, so yeah, It would be a real thrill to win my local Open,” she smiled.
